In Development

[vc_row][vc_column][title type=”fancy-h1″ color=”#dd3333″]In Development[/title][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I have been developing films for over ten years.   It’s testament to the truly hellish nature of independent film in this country that even though several have come extremely close to closing finance none actually have.

The work that has gone in to each is colossal.  For each of these I have written multiple drafts of the script, seeking professional feedback at appropriate junctures.  Budgets and schedules have been produced.  Principle cast have been attached where possible.  And I have made a sizzle or teaser to give viewers a sense of the film.

The returns for failure are non existent, so film development is truly not for the faint hearted.  I am though on the cusp of finally getting there and one has closed finance.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][title type=”fancy-h1″ color=”#dd3333″]Stripped[/title][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Romantic Comedy Drama

Writer- Director

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]This film tells the story of an old friend of mine.  We were at art college together, then she went on to run some of the biggest names in male stripping.

This came to an end when she was prosecuted for fraud by the HMRC and then when convicted, went on the run for a year before she was caught.  She then became a Samaritan while serving her sentence. All of which sounded like a story worth telling.

The film is budgeted at £10 million and is fully financed.  We anticipate an 8 week shoot in early 2023.

Name cast attached.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”880″ img_size=”large” onclick=”custom_link” link=”http://www.davidskynner.com/site/film/dark-glass-2/”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][title type=”fancy-h1″ color=”#dd3333″]Tea Shop Asylum[/title][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Comedy Drama

Writer- Director

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Tea Shop Asylum tells the broadly true story of a group of refugees from the Yugoslav war and their experiences of arriving in the UK in the 1990’s.

When my collaborators told me the stories on which the script is based I was nearly sick I was laughing so much. It is a very weird and bizarrely, wonderfully funny story.

The Film Council concurred and gave us some money to film this teaser and Joanna Lumley and John Hannah very kindly agreed to appear.  We were nearly 90% financed when everything collapsed due to our sales agent refusing to seek a small pre-sale. May they burn in hell.

I think its time may be coming around again though.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/8530885″ title=”Tea Shop Asylum – Teaser”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][title type=”fancy-h1″ color=”#dd3333″]Judy – A Dog in a Million[/title][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Action Drama

Based on the best selling book by Damian Lewis[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Based upon the endearingly moving true story of a runaway puppy from a Shanghai kennel, whose journey as a ship’s mascot saved hundred of lives, leading her to become recognised as the only animal POW in WW2.

The film is budgeted at $15 million and is currently seeking finance.

Cast include Rupert Everett and Dougray Scott.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/266856430″ title=”Judy – Teaser”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][title type=”fancy-h1″ color=”#dd3333″]Dark Glass[/title][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]An original idea based on something unnerving I have always felt about mirrors.

John Hannah again very generously gave his time to make the teaser.

Shot at 4k on location over about a 6 hour day.

Interesting fact; we used the Canon prime lenses James Cameron used for his film Aliens.

Financing fell apart for reasons too depressing to mention.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/davidskynner/darkglass” title=”Dark Glass – Teaser”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]
